Building Character

Today’s assembly was delivered by a special guest!

Ms Curtis came in to talk about character with the children. She asked the children to think about their own character traits and how they would like others to think of them. The children were fantastic in their responses, discussing kindness, being brave, being smart and even being humble!

She also likened character to the lead in a pencil – It was the most important part; it ran through the centre; and sometimes could be sharp, or blunt; and that if it did make a mistake, could always be rubbed out using an eraser. Continuing this metaphor, she went on to add that whatever your character was, like a pencil, you would always make a mark and that it was important to ensure that those marks you made on people were positive ones.

I hope that you get the chance to discuss with your children what three character traits they would like to be known for.
