Year 6

Welcome to Year 6 at NHPS

The final and most exciting year of primary school! This year is filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and preparation for the transition to secondary school.

In Year 6, our pupils set the standard and are expected to take on more responsibility, developing even greater independence in their studies and daily routines. They will engage in a rich and varied curriculum designed to deepen their knowledge and skills across all subjects, with a strong focus on mastering core areas such as English and Maths.

Throughout the year, children will develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, enhance their communication skills, and build confidence through a variety of activities and projects. They will also have the chance to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities, school trips, and leadership roles, all aimed at fostering a well-rounded education.

Preparing for the end-of-year SATs is of course a key focus, however it does not dominate the year. Our dedicated teaching staff are committed to supporting each child to achieve their personal best. We also emphasize the importance of emotional and social development, ensuring that our pupils are ready for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in secondary school.
