Year 6 build rafts and put them to the test

Year 6 took inspiration from The Explorer in English this week, and the result was a very hands-on lesson. Working in teams, they designed and built mini rafts, thinking all the while about what the characters might be doing, thinking and feeling as they faced being stranded in the Amazon rainforest.

There were some brilliant ideas and a lot of problem solving along the way. Then came the real test. Every raft went into the water, and the class were really impressed with how long lots of them managed to stay afloat.
