Year 1 Go Gruffalo Hunting at Forest School

Year 1 headed out to Forest School this week for an afternoon with a storybook twist. Before setting off to explore, the children ran through the Forest School rules together, making sure everyone knew how to stay safe among the trees.

Then came the fun part. The class read The Gruffalo before heading off to hunt for each character from the story, from the fox to the owl to the Gruffalo himself, and built each one a little home in the woods.

It’s exactly the kind of hands-on, imaginative learning Forest School does best, and a lovely way for the children to bring a favourite story to life outdoors.
