Merry Christmas Team Hawksmoor

At the end of an epic term, we would like to wish a very Happy Christmas to everyone associated with Nicholas Hawksmoor.

It seems like an age ago that we returned to school after half term in October on Halloween, and so much great learning and exciting experiences have taken place throughout Autumn 2 that has led us to this festive period.

We have had assemblies led by Year 4 and Year 6 pupils on their respective RE topics, Harkirat Singh visited us to share the Sikh faith with us all, the PCSOs came in to lead on Blue Butterfly project and pupil safety, Children in Need fundraising, Rev Paula visiting Year 1 and so much more.

Sports events including: Year 1 Multiskills sports events, KS2 Sponne Cluster Cross Country, followed by the District level event, with runners qualifying for county finals in January!

Poetry & Poppies visited KS2 and our Generations Unite remembrance event was followed by the most beautifully observed service on the turning circle.

Of course, our FoNHS have done another amazing job this term and worked their socks off to put on some wonderful experiences for the children with Winter Wonderland, but also the Gift Sales, and a really successful raffle draw for parents and families too.

On to our Christmas Shows, which were as magical as I have ever known them: Our Reception children blew us away with their confidence whilst ‘Going on a Present Hunt’, Year 1 & 2 melted hearts with their nativity inspired by a star who had lost her wings, Y3&4 delivered their traditional ‘Christmas Around the World’ and Y5&6 knocked our socks of with Mr Driver’s interpretation on A Christmas Carol with a sprinkle of Matilda thrown in for good measure.

Then yesterday Y2-6 took a trip down to St Lawrence to fill thew church with some wonderful festive singing before we were represented so brilliantly by Y6s Alberto & Willow reading at the Carols on the Square service yesterday evening.

This morning we had our traditional Christmas assembly , where we gave out quite literally hundreds of certificates to close off the year in celebration. We also used this opportunity to say some goodbyes to a few children who are sadly moving away to other parts of the country/world and a very big goodbye to Miss Johnson (Y5) who is emigrating to Australia to begin a new life in the sun – she will be very much missed by all of us here!

Our day ended with the Christingle service led by our Year 6 pupils. A tradition that goes back many years and was a fitting finale to another busy term here at NHPS.

Happy Christmas Team Hawksmoor! 🎄🎅🍷
