District Girls Football
After a cold and frosty warm up, we were off to a slow start losing our first game against Woodland View 1-0. Although with some great saves from Remy in goal, they were not disheartened. It gave the girls the determination to come out strong in match 2, where they beat Braunston 3-0 after some fantastic goals from Emmeline. We then faced Falconers Hill in a tough match drawing 2-2, Harriet and Tiana demonstrating real strength against some strong players.
The afternoon saw the sun come out and a 3-0 win against The Radstone, followed by an incredibly exciting 4-0 win over Welton. Amazing results with goals from Emmeline, Phoebe and Lissie plus strong defending from Sophia and Orlaith. Our last game was tough with a steady scoreline until the other team managed to slip it in the net at the last minute to give Bugbrooke the 1-0 win.
Hands were shaken and congratulations given all round.
I was so proud of the way this team played with amazing positivity and fantastic team spirit. It was the first time they’ve ever played as a team and for some of them their first time in a match! Confidence and self belief grew throughout the day and they guided each other to put on a brilliant performance. With an overall result of 10th out of 96 in the district, these girls have a lot to be proud of.
