District Cross Country Finals
Today saw 41 of our NHPS runners take on a challenging but fun course to compete in the South Northants Cross County event held at Courteenhall Estate near Roade.
The children from Years 3-6 managed some tricky, undulating conditions and were a real credit to the school, cheering on runners from lots of schools of all abilities. With events for different year groups ranging from 1400 – 2400m, regardless of their final finishing place, these children should be immensely proud of their achievements today.
A special mention must go to the nine Year 5 and 6 children who placed high enough in their respective races to qualify for the county finals to be held in January – winter training continues to have an end goal for these! And a final mention must go to Freddie in Year 5 who literally tore up the course to finish 1st, almost catching the ‘hare’ who was pacing the race.
Overall, it was an extremely successful event and Ms Curtis’ team of runners did themselves proud – I hope they get a nice hot bath to soak those muscles and clear off all the mud!
