British Values

In today’s assembly, we spent time reflecting on British Values. British Values are the principles that guide how we live and interact with each other in the UK. These values include democracy, which means everyone has a say; the rule of law, which ensures fairness and safety for all; individual liberty, where people are free to make their own choices; mutual respect, treating everyone with kindness and understanding; and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs, showing respect for people’s diverse backgrounds. By teaching these values, we help children grow up to be respectful, responsible, and caring citizens.

We shared a little about what makes us all individuals and also linked these to our school rules: Be Ready, Be Respectful & Be Safe. The last two in particular link very closely with the British Values and it was fantastic to hear how the children could quickly and easily make these links.

I look forward to seeing, and hearing, the children demonstrating these throughout the weeks and months ahead – being positive citizens both within the Nicholas Hawksmoor community, and out there in the wider world.
