Safer Internet Day

At school, we’ve been talking with the children about how to stay safe, confident and happy online — and how to make good choices with their screen time.
Here are the key messages shared with KS2 pupils in assembly today:
You are the boss of your screen, not your screen being the boss of you: We discussed how apps and games are designed to keep us scrolling, and how important it is to take breaks, get active, and enjoy real‑world adventures.
Spotting what is real online: The children learned simple ways to spot when an image or video might be fake or AI‑generated — including checking hands, shadows, text on signs and even reflections.
Be a “Digital Detective”: We showed pupils how to zoom in, ask “Why would someone make this?” and think carefully before believing or sharing something online.
You can always talk to a trusted adult: Whether at school or at home, children were reminded that if something online worries them, they are never in trouble for asking for help.
