MG Leonard Visits NHPS!

We have had a truly wonderful morning learning all about beetles, birds, trains and detectives from our esteemed visiting author M.G. Leonard.

Maya came to spend some time with us to talk all about her books, the writing process and where she gets her inspiration for such wonderful stories from. We learnt lots about the importance of insects to our planet; the equipment and skills needed to be a good birdwatcher (and how these were similar to that of a good detective); and finally all about the awesome power of trains she has since developed writing about trains with Sam Sedgman.

Our Year 6 children were  also privileged to participate in an additional writing workshop, creating their own murder-mysteries that they will go on to develop in the coming weeks. It was a fantastic morning spent with a top-quality children’s author. She was informative, entertaining and inspiring for both children and adults. We now have had a lot of budding young detectives around school today! 📚 🕵️‍♂️
