Amazing Start to the Term!
We linked this to the efforts and attitudes of our Olympic & Paralympic heroes that many of us have been watching throughout the summer. Many of whom have had to overcome their own personal challenges to achieve incredible feats in their young careers.
We focused particularly on swimming (an area of sport I am most passionate about), and looked at some local heroes that are currently in Paris competing in the Paralympics. These four GB swimmers are from our very own Northampton Swimming Club, with Bruce Dee, Eliza & Scarlett Humphrey and Maisie Summers-Newton flying the flag for Northants!
Maisie has managed to bag 4 Paralympic gold medals in her career already, and Bruce and the twins are competing in their very first Paralympics. If you can, watch Maisie this evening at about 16:40 as she competes in the 400m Freestyle – she is an incredible swimmer whose attitude and effort is wonderful to witness.
Overall, I have been extremely proud of the start that all the children have made this week, and I hope that today’s assembly resonates with them over the weeks and months ahead. Our children have so much potential, and with the right amount of effort and attiude, they can go on to achieve great things just like our Olympians and Paralympians!
