Year 5 head to the Norfolk coast for their Aylmerton residential

Year 5 spent three days this week at Aylmerton on the North Norfolk coast, and it was packed from start to finish.
Day one began with rock pooling on the beach. That evening the children set off on a twilight walk through the Felbrigg estate, where they spotted bats, swans and frogs. They also met George, an oak tree that’s hundreds of years old and completely hollow inside, and got the chance to stand inside him.

Next came Blakeney Point. Year 5 walked the long shingle spit in stunning weather, and a pod of curious seals came to have a look at them while they hunted for stones. Then it was the mudflats. The children collected their mud shoes as they went, strode through mud up to their ankles and waded back through streams to the coach. “The best day of my life!” was the verdict from more than one of them.
The evenings were just as memorable. A storyteller called Chris, better known as Skippy, held the whole group spellbound. And after days that full, everyone slept brilliantly.
