A very sporty start to the year

Most schools ease into September. At Nicholas Hawksmoor, the first morning back involved gymnastics, football and dodgeball.
Our friends at Freestyle ran taster sessions right across the school, so children from Year 1 up to Year 6 all got a proper go at the three of them before the morning was out.
There’s a reason we do it this way round. Asking a seven year old to commit to a club they’ve never tried is a big ask. Letting them have a go first and then choose works far better, and the clubs end up full of children who genuinely want to be there.
Letters went home the same day and places are already going. Not a bad way to shake off six weeks of summer.
